Inspired by the reverence held by many cultures, I encourage you to embrace this period of profound rest and nourishment of which you are entirely deserving. Harnessing a blended cultural tradition, I acknowledge that the forty day postpartum period has the power to shape the health of the parent and their family for the decades to come. Because of this, my role in Tend is to help you to slow down, honour your body and emotions, and appreciate the life-changing achievement you have already accomplished.

Reclaiming the Art of Mindful Postpartum Care

Over the past century, the practice of embracing a slow and meaningful postpartum has faded into obscurity, driven by societal pressure to "bounce back." This path often leads to postpartum depression, anxiety, and depletion.

By slowing down, checking in with yourself, and acknowledging the need for support during this period, I hope to combat the expectation that new mothers and parents should return to their prior selves so soon, if at all.
